START RIGHT (by Refreshing your Faith)
“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6:13-17
It’s the New Year. It only means new beginnings, new days, new experiences, new works, new friends to meet, and probably new direction. Maybe some of us are excited and yet anxious on what’s served ahead. We don’t know what will take place this year.
And as I was contemplating all of these, I remember the story of the Israelites before crossing the Jordan River. It was indeed a new day for them. New water to cross, new experience. They surely have felt fear for they have never gone that way before.
You may be feeling the same way, but have faith! Put on the full armor of God and be prepared. This is the right time to be all the more on our knees and entrust to God whatever we are to go through this year.
Perhaps, in the past year you’ve been trying really hard to do things on your own and now you realize that you can never do it. That’s the truth, “You will not succeed by your own strength or power but My Spirit, says the Lord.” –Zechariah 4:6
This year, do not harden your heart. Surrender to God everything in your life. Let Him be in control of your thoughts, heart, and actions.
This road may be new to us but not to God. He has gone way, way ahead of us so that in times like this we can fully trust Him to lead our path if we only look to Him and follow.
Joshua 3:3-4, “…When you see the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord you God, and the priests, the Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go since you have never been this way before.”
Take courage. Have your faith refreshed!
