You must be the change you want to see in the world. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
We now live in a world where we can do whatever we want. We’re so comfortable doing our work with our own personal computers, laptops, tablet and smart phones. With today’s social media outburst, anything is possible. We can accomplish wonders just by sitting and being with our gadgets. And as the days, weeks, months and years pass, still we discover things that can make our lives even more comfortable. Yet, out of the comfort we experience, do we still do things to make our life grow deeper with God? Or do we let the comforts of this world conform us?
This year, we can either “conform to this world” or we can “be transformed by the renewing of our mind.”
Our world was created good, but it has since been corrupted by
human sin. People are destroying the creation God did. We are all waiting for God to come back and refashion the world. Until then, we are to reject the pattern of thinking that comes from the corrupted and twisted world and instead live out changed lives that are in accordance with the truth of God. A lot can happen in one year. What will you do with the coming year that God has given to you?
