So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations surrounding us saw it, they lost their confidence; for they recognized that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God. – Nehemiah 6:15-16
Someone once said that it is the journey, not the destination. If I may add to that, it is the destination that defines the journey. And reaching that destination comes with a price. For the price and for the cost, one man counted it all as a loss all for gaining His glory.
God did not start the work by gathering materials. God did not start the work by picking out talented workers. God started with a man devoted and dependent on Him. God showed Nehemiah his destiny and fueled him with determination. God supplied the demands of the work and stood in their defense. With man it is impossible, but with God it is done.
When faced with insurmountable trials and impossible situations look where Nehemiah did. When bogged down and feel like quitting, draw strength where Nehemiah did. When voices around tell you “it cannot be”, focus on the Voice that says “trust me.”
Have you ever prayed for God to use you for His purposes, for things exceeding your wildest dreams and aspirations? Have you ever longed to leave a mark in this world, not for your name but for His?
Our world needs more men devoted to Him.
Our world needs wall builders.
Are you one of them?
