“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Have you ever done anything lately that hurt God and other people? You don’t have to live in guilt and misery forever. All you need to do is ask for God’s forgiveness and have the desire to change and do better next time. This is what makes us truly happy – being embraced by the truth of God’s love, no matter who we are or what we’ve done. And then being used by Him.
Do you own a precious piece of pottery, say an heirloom vase or a bowl that was given to you by someone you love? What if it breaks? I’m sure you’ll feel terrible and you have no choice but to throw the broken pieces away. Not for the Japanese, as they have invented the art of repairing pottery called kintsukuroi or kintsugi. They repair the broken pottery by using gold or silver lacquer.
“The bowl has become more beautiful for having been broken. The true life of the bowl …began the moment it was dropped….
— Christy Bartlett
We’re imperfect and weak but God can use this to bring out our best and fulfill His plans. He can’t work with those who think they are good and righteous and holy. He can’t work with the proud.
To be used by God in our broken state.
This is real happiness.
