Week 37: Monday – The Power of WE

Even though we are many individuals, Christ makes us one body and individuals who are connected to each other. Romans 12:5 (GW)

The world has never been more connected. No matter what happens in the world we hear about it now within seconds. But in spite of the fact that the world is getting more and more connected, people feel more and more disconnected. Nowadays, society around us seems to push toward self-fulfillment and individualism resulting in wrecking havoc on our relationships. And people today don’t feel as connected as they did a generation ago.

The Bible tells us very clearly that you were made for community. In fact, one of the very first things that God said was, “It’s not good for man to be alone.” Think about this for a moment, God created Adam in a perfect environment, Adam had everything he needs, he was in perfect harmony with God, and sin didn’t exist yet. But God said, No. Human beings are not made for isolation. You were made for community. What matters is you need healthy connections and healthy relationships in your life.

There’s this little town in Pennsylvania that features the famous Rosetta family. It was a multi generational family and people were living well into their nineties and one hundreds. The problem was they did everything wrong: they ate high fat, they all smoked, they didn’t do any exercise at all, and yet they were living into their nineties and one hundreds. They couldn’t figure it out.
But after a while, times changed and people started moving out of the village saying, “I need some space” or “I have to have my freedom.” You know what happened? They started dying earlier.

They discovered that the glue of a healthy life is healthy connections. Healthy relationships.

You were made for community.
